<p>In an article by Ric Kahn in The Boston Globe published January 4, 2009 -</p>
<p>Nearly 18 million low-income U.S. children receive free or reduced-price lunches, but less than half of those opt in to similar breakfast programs, according to a recent study from Harvard University researchers.  While researchers say school breakfasts may improve attendance, test scores, grades, behavior and health, many parents remain unaware of the option or have a difficult time getting children to school in time to eat before classes begin.</p>
