Congratulations to the following staff who received tuition reimbursement from Open Door for the 2011 Spring Semester:

Samantha Edwards works at the Seven Oaks center in Baltimore County and received $500.
Jason Grant works at the Piney Orchard center in Anne Arundel County and received $500.
Alisha Patel works at the Ridgeway center is Anne Arundel County and received $500.

Clubs and Activities at Woodbridge Center

There are many clubs and activities for children to enjoy at the Open Door Woodbridge Center. Clubs like “Green Einsteins” allow children to explore science in a fun way and activities at the “Construction Zone” are opening childrens’ imaginations daily.

Arts & Crafts Training a Big HIT!

It’s no surprise that the recent arts and crafts training held at the main office had such a large sign-up that a waiting list had to be started. Ms. Nancy Dalesio is widely known in the company as being the “TOPS” in this field! She had a spectacular display of affordable arts and crafts, and “Make and Take” stations that were geared toward all levels of developmental growth. A good time was had by ALL. Thank you Ms. Nancy!

Don’t delay in signing up for her next classes on June 25, where her first class will be “Multicultural Activities” and the second class will be “Planning Fall Crafts”.

Bonus Opportunity for New Teachers

For all staff who complete and submit their paperwork to the main office within 2 weeks of hire will receive a $100 bonus.

All staff hired from September 7 forward will have 2 weeks from the date of going over their new hire packet to complete and submit paperwork in order to receive the bonus.

Outdoor Play is Healthy for Children

Outdoor Play is healthy for children after spending six and a half hours in a classroom. Structuring that play so children learn teamwork and conflict resolution skills is a key component of Open Door. Having a teacher directly involved with each group activity, prohibiting Dodge Ball and like games, encouraging team spirit, and being referee are important roles for staff when children are involved in active play!
