Our Program

The Open Door™ program offers children a nurturing but stimulating environment after school. The opportunity to choose from a rich selection of activities, supported by materials, facilitates relaxation and productive play, complementing the rigor and structure of the school day.

  • Puzzles and blocks enhance fine motor skill development
  • Board games and outdoor play develop social skills
  • Arts and crafts and clubs allow children to pursue special interests
  • Academic enrichment includes Camelot Learning and homework support

Children learn to share, develop friendships, work as cooperative members of a team, gain experience in making choices, and build self-confidence through mastering new skills.

Preparing Children for Social Success

Helping children develop self-confidence and the ability to work with others will help them be successful adults. At Open Door™ we give children the opportunity to develop vital social skills through cooperative play, team building, and conflict resolution.

On a daily basis, Open Door provides:

  • a nutritious snack before and after school, served family style so the children may converse and share experiences of the day
  • active outdoor (weather permitting) or indoor play. After the rigors of the 6-1/2 hour school day, exercise helps children recharge
  • options for children to self-select activities, play with friends, do homework
  • a range of age-appropriate games, materials, equipment
  • adult-planned arts and crafts, special interest clubs, and academic enrichment activities

Throughout the afternoon children interact with caring adults who are trained in academic enrichment and the development of social skills.
