Open Door recognizes that staff are our greatest resource. To work with children effectively, staff skills are needed in both child development and curriculum development. Across the school age years, the developmental needs of children, socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically, vary tremendously. Available activities must reflect the different stages of development, as well as opportunities for group or individual, and quiet or active play. Effective staff should be comfortable with the breadth of variation in children’s needs, and be competent in guiding children when needed.
